Governor Yusuf Announces Fresh Appointments, Promotions in Kano

Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has approved fresh appointments to various positions and promoted other officials.

Those apointed are as follows:

1. Abubakar Ibrahim Matawalle, Acting Director-General, Kano State Pilgrims Welfare Board. Matawalle served in similar capacity previously.

2. Yusuf Mukhtar is promoted to the rank of a Permanent Secretary.

3. Barr. Rahama Malam Alhaji, Provost, Kano State Anti-Corruption Institute.

4. Aina’u Ade, promoted from Special Assistant to Senior Special Assistant, Kanywood Affairs.

The announcement is contained in a statement signed by the governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa on Monday.

Abubakar Ibrahim Matawalle had previously served as Executive Secretary of the Pilgrims’ Board and Permanent Secretary Establishment before he retired from Kano civil service.

Matawalle is a seasoned administrator who rose from the of position Assistant Secretary to Permanent Secretary, retired in 2014 after serving in that capacity for 8 years.

He is an accomplished administrator who excelled in the management of the Hajj operation for years.

Barr. Rahama Malam Alhaji is a highly accomplished legal professional with over seven years of experience in litigation, corporate law, electricity law, regulatory compliance, and dispute resolution.

She is widely known for delivering strategic legal solutions, managing complex contracts, and ensuring regulatory adherence across both private and public institutions.

Her career spans law practice, corporate leadership at Kano Electricity Distribution Company (KEDCO), and academic administration as Head of the School of Law at Maryam Abacha American University of Nigeria (MAAUN).

She pioneered key initiatives such as the establishment of the Law Clinic and Student Bar Association and holds advanced legal qualifications, including a Master of Laws (LLM) in International Law.

The promotion of veteran actress Aina’u Ade from Special Assistant to Senior Special Assistant on Kannywood Affairs was considered out of her outsanding performance in the former role.

The appointments form part of the Governor’s commitment to strengthening key sectors and ensuring effective management of public institutions.

Governor Yusuf urged the appointees to justify the confidence reposed in them through hard work, transparency, and loyalty to the Kano First Agenda.

All appointments and promotions are with immediate effects.
