The Governor of Nasarawa State, Engr. Abdullahi A. Sule, on Monday, signed into law the 2026 fiscal appropriation bill of 545,182,100,910.77 (Five hundred and forty-five billion, One hundred and eighty two million, One hundred thousand, Nine hundred and ten naira, Seventy-seven Kobo).
The 2026 Budget is tagged “Budget of Strategic Consolidation,” was reviewed by the Nasarawa State House of Assembly and signed at a ceremony at the Government House, Lafia.
Governor Sule stressed that the primary goal of assenting to the new fiscal appropriation bill is to build upon existing achievements.
“Let me assure you that we will continue to adhere strictly to the provisions of the budget and ensure its full implementation in line with our threshold to consolidate our development strides,” he stated.
According to him, with the primary responsibility of government to protect the lives of the citizens, as well as provide dividends of democracy, his administration would continue to leverage the Nasarawa Economic Development Strategy (NEDS) as it relates to education, health, agriculture, security, economic empowerment, and general infrastructure, which are prioritised and captured in this 2026 budget.
”We shall do this to consolidate the achievements recorded thus far for the benefit of our own people.
“Our administration will continue to nurture the seeds of development in education, health, security, sports development, agriculture, human capital development, infrastructure, women’s and youth empowerment, and ensure that they continue to bloom into vibrant fruits for the benefit of our own people,” he said.
For the government to realize its stated objectives, Governor Sule appealed to all stakeholders to recommit themselves to the vision of building a peaceful, prosperous, and united Nasarawa State.
“Let me crave the indulgence of the various stakeholders present here today to recommit ourselves to the vision of building a peaceful, prosperous, and united Nasarawa State where every citizen is empowered to realize their fullest potential.
“I believe that this is the dream of our founding fathers, and we shall work toward its realization,” he added.
He commended the Speaker of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Danladi Jatau, principal officers, and other members of the Assembly, for the timely consideration and passage of the 2026 fiscal appropriation bill.

I must commend the sustained partnership, which has continued to define our collective commitment toward accelerating the pace of development in our dear state,” he said.
The Governor used the opportunity to condole with the Aren Eggon, HRH Retired Justice Ahmed Alaku Ubangari, as well as the entire Eggon nation, over the unfortunate incident in Nasarawa Eggon, which led to the loss of lives.
Presenting the 2026 appropriation bill before Governor Sule for assent, Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Danladi Jatau commended the synergy and cooperation existing between the legislative and executive arms of government, which has made it possible for the timely passage of the bill.
“We want to thank you for what you have been doing for the state and the synergy existing between the legislature and the executive. I want to assure you, we will continue with this synergy for the development of Nasarawa State,” he said.
The Speaker emphasized that the House did not just pass the bill but subjected the document to intense scrutiny by various committees of the House, which saw to the increase in identified areas in order to do justice to the document.
Also in a welcome address, the Commissioner for Finance and Budget Planning, Munirat Abdullahi, said the Governor’s timely assent “demonstrates his firm commitment to fiscal discipline, effective governance and continuity in development planning.”
