Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, has read the riot act to contractors handling various projects across the state to work to specification and deliver quality jobs, saying that the people would call on him to account for how he spent public funds entrusted under his care.
Okpebholo stated this during the inspection of some ongoing road projects on Tuesday in Benin City.
According to him, Edo State gets its allocation from the Federal Account Allocation Committee (FAAC), and that money under my watch will be utilized effectively and efficiently. We will embark on projects that will be beneficial to the Edo people, making life better for them.
“Edo people would hold me accountable to give an account on how my administration utilizes funds from FAAC.
“We assure them that Edo money will be used to work for Edo people as my administration will never divert the people’s money,” he said.
Okpebholo, however, read the riot act to contractors handling various projects across the state to work to specification and deliver quality jobs.
The Governor, who said that some of the ongoing projects are currently at various levels of completion, assured that his administration would continue to embark on more people-oriented projects that would benefit the people.

“Do you remember this road? The first day we passed through here, people came out to complain about the bad road. We have awarded this portion of the road. You will see contractors soon. We have completed the section leading to this community.
“We have also awarded this road, and we cannot afford to fail. Edo State has keyed into Mr. President’s Renewed Hope Agenda. We are here to work for the people of Edo State, and in the next few days, work will commence here.
“We will continue to inspect projects to be very sure that contractors work according to specifications and also meet the timeline for completion of the projects for the betterment of the people,” he stated
He added that the purpose of the regular inspection of projects was to ensure that contractors are working to specification as well as to put in their best to deliver quality jobs for the people.
