The Governor of Kebbi State, Comrade Dr. Nasir Idris, has approved the appointment of Sanusi Mika’ilu Sami as the new Emir of Zuru.

The letter of appointment was formally presented to the new Emir on Thursday in Zuru by the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Garba Umar Dutsin-Mari.

Dutsin-Mari explained that the appointment followed the recommendation of the Zuru Emirate Emirship Election Committee.

He noted that out of three candidates screened for the position, Sanusi Mika’ilu Sami secured the highest number of votes and emerged as the Emir.

The commissioner further stated that the appointment became necessary following the passing of the late Emir of Zuru, His Royal Highness, Muhammad Sani Sami Gomo II, who died on August 16, 2025, at a hospital in London.

While thanking Governor Nasir Idris for approving the appointment, Dutsin-Mari urged the new royal father to justify the confidence reposed in him.

He advised the Emir to carry out his duties with diligence and in the fear of Almighty God.
