The Kebbi State Governor, Comrade Dr Nasir Idris, has allocated five Special Assistant slots to Kebbi State Chapter of Deaf and Dumb Association.
He disclosed this during a breaking of fast (Iftar) with the executive and some selected members of the Association at Government House, Birnin Kebbi, on Sunday.
Governor Idris said the gesture was meant to give all manner of people in the state a sense of belonging, saying that his government was a government of the people, for the people, and by the people.
“I commended the support given to me during my campaign era, and even now, I thank you, people, and I will continue to appreciate you people’s efforts,” he added.
Speaking on behalf of the Association, the leader of the team, Issa Umar Ambursa, told the governor that they were not considered in some slots of Special Assistant given to persons with disabilities in the state.
He said members of the associated had immensely contributed to the success of the governor during his 2023 electioneering campaign.
Ambursa explained that during the campaign, their members had participated in the campaign both within within the urban and rural areas, “but at the end of it, we did not benefit from it.”
While describing the present administration as their own government, Ambursa assured that they would continue to support this government to succeed.
He also assured the governor of their collective resolve to stand by him come 2027.
