Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Fintiri, has imposed a 24-hour curfew on Lamurde Local Government Area following violent unrest and a breakdown of peace in several communities.
In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Humwashi Wonosikou, the governor described the disturbances as unacceptable and ordered immediate enforcement of the curfew by security agencies.
Fintiri warned that anyone found violating the curfew would be arrested and prosecuted, stressing that the measure is necessary to restore law and order.
The curfew takes effect immediately and will remain in place until further notice. Residents have been urged to cooperate with security operatives and provide relevant information to aid efforts in restoring peace.
The governor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property, calling on residents to avoid spreading rumors and support efforts to return the area to normalcy.
