Governor Aliyu Reaffirms Commitment to Grassroots Development

Governor Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto has reiterated his administration’s unwavering commitment to ensuring comprehensive and people-focused development across all 23 local government areas in Sokoto State.

The Governor made the declaration while addressing stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) during an engagement meeting held on Thursday in Sokoto.

He assured the gathering that his administration would soon launch a series of impactful projects targeted at transforming communities at the grassroots.

According to Governor Aliyu, local government chairmen, APC party executives, and other relevant stakeholders have been instructed to submit concrete proposals for development projects that will directly benefit their constituencies.

He stressed that only projects with genuine public impact will be approved and implemented.

He emphasized the need for transparency, equity, and accountability in the handling of public funds and project execution.

“We must ensure that every ward and community, no matter how remote, enjoys the dividends of democracy without favoritism or bias,” he stated.

The Governor also hinted at forthcoming federal appointments for qualified Sokoto indigenes, which he said would enhance the state’s representation at the national level and bring additional benefits to the people.

He reassured citizens that his administration would continue to prioritize critical sectors such as infrastructure, healthcare, education, and economic empowerment.

He noted that current projects across the state are already delivering positive outcomes and will be scaled up in the months ahead.

Speaking at the occasion, APC leader and former Governor of Sokoto State, Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko, lauded the Governor’s leadership and vision.

He advised local government chairmen to govern with sincerity and the fear of God, emphasizing the importance of unity, understanding, and prayers for the continued success of the current administration.

In his remarks, the APC State Chairman, Hon. Isah Sadiq Achida, commended Governor Aliyu’s inclusive governance approach.

He described the administration as proactive and responsive to the yearnings of the people, noting that the party remains united behind the Governor.

Senator Salihu Bakwai Sabon Birni, speaking on behalf of APC elders, reaffirmed their collective support for the administration’s agenda.

Commissioner of Agriculture, Hon. Muhammadu Tukur Alkali, praised the government’s strides in rejuvenating the agricultural sector, which he said is vital to economic sustainability.

Hon. Abba Shehu Tambuwal, representing the 23 local government chairmen, expressed appreciation for the Governor’s open-door policy and commitment to strengthening local governance.

Muhammadu Sarkin Alaru, chairman of Illela LGA, echoed similar sentiments, pledging loyalty and cooperation from all chairmen.

The engagement meeting, held at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu Hall, Gawon Nama residence of Senator Wamakko, witnessed a large turnout of high-ranking government officials and party faithful from across the state.

Among the dignitaries in attendance were the Speaker of the Sokoto State House of Assembly, Hon. Tukur Bala Bodinga; Deputy Speaker, Hon. Kabir Ibrahim Kware; Majority Leader, Hon. Bello Idris Chimmola; former Deputy Governor, Chuso Abdullahi Dattijo; and former Speaker, Hon. Lawali Labbo Margai.

Also present were the Secretary to the State Government, Muhammadu Bello Sifawa; Chief of Staff, Aminu Haliru Dikko; members of the State Executive Council; special advisers; national and state lawmakers; APC elders; local government chairmen; and APC executives from all 23 LGAs of Sokoto State.
