Musa Na Allah, Sokoto
To ease Eid-el-Kabir celebrations for workers across Sokoto State, Governor Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto has directed the early payment of June salaries, effective Monday, 2 June.
The directive, announced by the Governor’s Press Secretary, Abubakar Bawa, covers state and local government workers, staff under the Local Government Education Authority (LGEA), and pensioners.
This marks the third early salary payment under Governor Aliyu’s administration, aimed at helping civil servants purchase sacrificial animals and adequately prepare for the religious festival.
Speaking from Saudi Arabia, where he is performing the Hajj pilgrimage, Governor Aliyu urged workers to show greater dedication in return for the government’s support.
“To whom much is given, much is expected,” he said. “We expect civil servants to be committed and responsible in their duties.”
He highlighted other recent initiatives to improve worker welfare, including consistent salary payments, restored cash allocations to MDAs, distribution of Sallah gifts, and settlement of pension and gratuity backlogs.
Governor Aliyu reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to revitalizing the civil service and delivering democratic dividends across Sokoto State.
He concluded by wishing all citizens a peaceful and joyous Eid-el-Kabir celebration.
