Benue State Governor, Rev. Fr. Dr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia, has inspected the ongoing construction work on the hostels at the Benue State University of Agriculture, Science and Technology (BUAST), Ihugh, as part of his administration’s efforts to ensure quality education in the state.

Chief Solomon Iorpev, the Technical Adviser to the Governor on Media, Publicity, and Strategic Communication, in a statement on Sunday, said Governor Alia expressed satisfaction with the progress of work and reiterated his commitment to providing quality education to the good people of Benue State.

Governor Alia emphasized that education is a key driver of development and that his administration is determined to harness its potential to transform the state, the statement added.

As part of his efforts to promote education, Governor Alia, approved the sponsorship of 2026 JAMB UTME registration for 400 pre-degree/remedial students of BUAST.

This gesture he said is aimed at encouraging and supporting students to pursue higher education, thereby contributing to the development of the state.

Governor Alia said quality education is essential for the growth and development of Benue State, citing its benefits in areas such as agriculture, and entrepreneurship.

He emphasized that his administration’s focus on education is designed to equip the people of Benue, especially the young ones, with the skills and knowledge necessary to compete in the global economy.

The Governor also referenced the recent launch of the Building Rights to Access and Compulsory Education for Un-enrolled Pupils (BRACE-UP) project, that took place yesterday, aimed at ensuring that no child of school age is left out of school. He emphasized that this initiative is a critical component of his administration’s efforts to promote education and reduce poverty in the state.

Governor Alia urged students to take advantage of the opportunities available to them, including the sponsorship of their JAMB UTME registration, to pursue their academic dreams and contribute to the development of the state.
