Ondo State Governor, Dr. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, has formally launched the “Ondo State for Tinubu 2027” campaign platform, which will serve as the official and unified body for all pro-Tinubu support groups in the state ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The initiative was unveiled during a meeting of All Progressives Congress (APC) leaders held on Friday at the Government House in Akure.
Speaking after the event, the State Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Hon. Idowu Ajanaku, said the new platform aligns with the APC constitution, which recognizes the sitting governor as the leader of the party in their respective state.
“As the leader of the APC in Ondo State, Governor Aiyedatiwa holds the legitimate mandate to coordinate and streamline all campaign efforts in support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s second-term bid,” Ajanaku stated.
He noted that the creation of the umbrella campaign platform is not only a reflection of the governor’s long-standing loyalty to President Tinubu but also a strategic effort to maintain internal party cohesion and prevent the emergence of rival factions.
“Governor Aiyedatiwa’s alliance with President Tinubu dates back to 2012.
His deep understanding of the president’s political vision positions him as the ideal figure to champion this effort under the Renewed Hope Agenda,” the Commissioner added.
Ajanaku stressed that all individuals and support groups promoting President Tinubu’s re-election ambition must now operate within the framework of “Ondo State for Tinubu 2027,” under the coordination of the governor’s leadership.
He warned against parallel or unauthorized campaign activities that could threaten party unity or create political tension, urging party members and supporters to adhere strictly to the constitutional order and leadership structure of the APC.
“This is a time for unity, discipline, and collective focus as we look ahead to 2027,” Ajanaku concluded.
The move is seen as part of broader efforts by the Ondo APC to consolidate its support base and avoid internal wrangling as the party begins early mobilization for the next electoral cycle.
