Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has formally resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the platform on which he emerged as senator and later governor.

Adeleke announced his departure in a post on his official X handle late Monday, sharing a copy of his resignation letter dated 4 November 2025.

The letter was addressed to the PDP Chairman of Ward 2, Sagba Abogunde, in Ede North Local Government Area.

In the letter, the governor attributed his resignation to the ongoing crisis within the PDP’s national leadership.

“Due to the current crisis of the national leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), I hereby resign my membership of the Peoples Democratic Party with immediate effect,” he wrote.

Adeleke expressed appreciation to the PDP for the platform it provided him to serve as Senator representing Osun West (2017–2019) and later as Governor.

While the attached acknowledgement shows the ward chairman received the resignation on 4 November, the governor did not disclose which political party he plans to join next.
