Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, on Monday, flagged off the electronic registration and revalidation of membership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state, describing the exercise as a critical step toward strengthening the party and ensuring an accurate membership database.
The Governor, who was recorded as the first registrant in the state, said the exercise would provide reliable data for effective planning, mobilisation, and empowerment of party members.
He cautioned party officials against excluding anyone, stressing that all eligible persons willing to join the APC must be accommodated.
Speaking at the APC Stakeholders’ engagement and commencement of the e-registration and revalidation exercise in Ilorin, Governor AbdulRazaq said the party must know its true strength.
“It is important that we know how many of us are members of this exclusive club, which is arguably the biggest party in Africa.
“This is the only party to develop Nigeria and its states, including the local governments,” he said.
He urged registration officers to use the exercise to canvass new members, noting that achievements recorded at the federal, state, and local government levels should be leveraged to expand the party’s base.
“This is an opportunity to canvass new members. Use the work that has been done to market the party and ensure that we grow beyond where we used to be,” the governor added.
Governor AbdulRazaq also highlighted his administration’s performance across key sectors, saying projects executed in education, health, infrastructure, and other areas have made Kwara State more developed and viable than ever before.
He added that possession of a valid National Identity Number (NIN) is mandatory for registration and revalidation.
The event, organized by the state APC under the leadership of Chairman Prince Sunday Fagbemi, was attended by party chieftains, federal and state lawmakers, cabinet members, board chairmen, and other stakeholders.
Fagbemi said the meeting was convened to assure party members of transparency and fairness in the process, stressing that arrangements had been made to prevent marginalization.
He commended the governor for his pragmatic leadership and achievements, describing them as strong tools for mobilization.
Deputy Chief of Staff, Princess Bukola Babalola, called for a collective effort to ensure the success of the exercise, noting that it requires the active participation of all party leaders and members.
Chairman of the Lower Niger River Basin Development Authority, Abdullateef Gidado Alakawa, said the exercise would strengthen the party ahead of future elections, noting that increased membership would translate into votes in 2027.
State Coordinator for APC membership e-registration, Mubarak Bello, explained that electronic registration would take place across the three senatorial districts, with 579 registration agents deployed across 193 wards.
He added that only members with valid NINs would be eligible, urging those with invalid numbers to seek revalidation.
Chairman of the APC Elders’ Caucus, Hon. Razaq Lawal, called on party members to mobilize and work for the success of the exercise, describing Governor AbdulRazaq as a reformer who has continued to lead the state by example and urging Kwarans to sustain their support for his administration.
