The Federation of Sokoto State Students Association (FOSOSSA) has hailed the administration of Governor Ahmed Aliyu on the occasion of his second anniversary in office, describing his leadership as a “beacon of hope” for students across the state.
During a press briefing held at the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Press Centre in Sokoto on Sunday, FOSOSSA praised the governor’s exceptional commitment to educational development and student welfare, which they say has brought tangible change to the lives of young people in the state.
FOSOSSA President Comrade Yusuf Sabi’u expressed deep appreciation for Governor Aliyu’s dynamic leadership, emphasizing that the administration has prioritized education not just in words but in decisive, life-changing actions.
He cited the governor’s payment of over N3 billion in outstanding tuition fees for students in tertiary institutions as a monumental achievement that has alleviated financial burdens and prevented academic setbacks for thousands of students.
Equally significant, according to the students’ body, is the state government’s intervention in supporting Sokoto students studying abroad.
FOSOSSA described the prompt payment of foreign tuition fees as a morale booster and a rescue effort that restored dignity to Sokoto’s international scholars.
“This singular intervention has saved many students from academic dismissal and reinforced Sokoto State’s reputation in the global academic community,” FASOSSA President said.
The association also commended Governor Aliyu for massive infrastructural investments in schools across the state, including the renovation of dilapidated classrooms, recruitment of qualified teachers, and provision of modern learning materials.
They stressed that these projects have significantly improved access to quality education and created a more conducive learning environment for students in both rural and urban areas.
FOSOSSA further applauded the governor’s openness and accessibility, noting that student leaders now enjoy a cordial and productive relationship with the state government, which has enabled swift responses to their concerns.
As the administration marks its second anniversary, FOSOSSA called on other state governors to adopt Governor Aliyu’s student focused approach, reaffirming their unwavering support for his leadership and pledging continued collaboration to drive academic excellence and youth empowerment in Sokoto State.
