The Kano State Fire Service has rescued a 23-year-old woman who fell into a well at Gurungawa in Kumbotso Local Government Area of the state.
According to a statement issued by the spokesperson of the Service, Saminu Yusif Abdullahi, the incident occurred in the early hours of Tuesday.
The statement said the agency’s Emergency Response Unit received a distress call at about 12:25 a.m. from one Lawan Aminu, reporting that a woman had fallen into a well in the area.
“Upon receipt of the call, a rescue team from the agency’s headquarters was immediately mobilised to the scene,” the statement said.
On arrival, the rescue team discovered the victim, identified as Ladidi Muhammad Sani, inside the well.
She was successfully rescued alive and later handed over to her father, Abdullahi Sani.
The Fire Service said the cause of the incident is currently under investigation.
The agency, under the leadership of its Director, Sani Anas, urged residents to take necessary safety precautions around open wells and other hazardous areas to prevent similar occurrences.
