The Federal Government has identified Kano and 10 other states as areas at risk of flooding between 16 and 20 July 2025.
This alert was issued by the National Flood Early Warning Centre, operating under the Federal Ministry of Environment, in its latest flood forecast released on Wednesday.
The affected states are Adamawa, Akwa Ibom, Bauchi, Borno, Cross River, Jigawa, Kano, Katsina, Plateau, Yobe, and Zamfara.
According to the alert, several locations across Kano State, including Kunchi, Kano city, Gezawa, Wudil, Bebeji, Sumaila, and Tudun Wada, are expected to experience heavy rainfall that could trigger flooding.
Director of the Erosion, Flood and Coastal Zone Management Department, Usman Abdullahi Bokani, has called on relevant agencies in the states to implement precautionary measures aimed at minimizing the potential impact of the floods.
