FG, Lab Four Sign Pact to Attract $1.2bn Forex, 50,000 Jobs

The ministry of Industry Trade and Investment in partnership with Lab Four has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU)  for the channeling of 50,000 full-time Business Process outsourcing (BPO) jobs to Nigeria in the next three years.

 

The agreement  will be executed by the National Talent Export Programme (NATEP)

 

Speaking during the signing in Abuja yesterday, Dr Femi Adeluyi National Coordinator of the National Talent Export Programme (NATEP), said the Programme is a key national initiative that will position Nigeria as a leading global hub for service exports, talent sourcing and talent export.

 

 “It will serve as a catalyst for the development of the Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) and Talent Export industries and ecosystems, which are the two channels for NATEP’s activities,” he said.

 

Also speaking, the  Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Dr. Doris Uzoke The four-pronged objectives of the NATEP initiative is “To deliver 1 million service-export jobs over the next 5 years and increase foreign exchange earnings and revenue for Nigeria; and also create economic growth and stimulate the growth of ancillary industries and support services; as well as improve skills and strengthen the Nigerian Brand,”.

 

Uzoka-Anite noted that “The jobs generated through this partnership have the potential to annually attract up to $1.2 billion into the Nigerian economy through remuneration to the employed persons, in addition to about $60million dollars that it will provide to develop the BPO ecosystem, through direct support to the individual BPOs,”
