FG Hands Over 10 CNG Buses to Kogi

Isiyaku Ahmed

The Federal Government has handed over 10 Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) buses to Kogi State Government for commercial use and launched the free CNG conversion program in the state.

Speaking at the event, the Director of the Program and Chief Executive Officer of the Presidential Compressed Natural Gas, Michael Oluwagbemi, said the 10 buses donated by the Tinubu administration would be reduced by 40 percent transportation cost.

“The launch of the compressed natural gas initiative is an opportunity for Nigerians to benefit from the abundant resources, which over the years they have continued to waste.

“The CNG initiative is the best way to boost our economy,” he stated.

The Minister of Steel Development, Shaibu Abubakar Audu, appealed to Nigerians to be patient with the present administration, noting that things will soon get better.

“We should not end up like Venezuela that cannot pay salaries or feed their people. Some challenges have come up, such as the high cost of food prices.

“Mr. President has told all of us as Nigerians that he feels our pains and is doing something to reverse that trend to ensure that foodstuff prices come down.

“One of which is the provision of CNG vehicles to Nigeria. Mr President has mandated that we should have one of the world’s major CNG conversions in Nigeria. Up to one million vehicles will be converted from PMS to CNG in the next year,” he said.

In his remarks, the Kogi State Governor, Ahmed Usman Ododo represented by his deputy, Elder Joel Salifu, disclosed that his administration has keyed into the Federal Government initiative for environmentally friendly transportation in Kogi State.
