FCTA Seals FIRS, Ibro Hotel, Others Over Ground Rent Default

Editor

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has stepped in as the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) intensifies enforcement against owners of properties with long-standing ground rent debts in Abuja.

The FCTA began its crackdown on defaulters on Monday, targeting 4,794 properties whose ground rents have not been paid in up to four decades—ranging from 10 to 43 years.

The enforcement affected properties belonging to both individuals and corporate entities, including government agencies.

Notably, among the sealed properties were the headquarters of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) secretariat, and Ibro Hotels, all located in Wuse Zone 5 of the capital city.
