Efandion community in Esan North-East constituency II, after suffering years of darkness, has been energized with a 500-kva ABB transformer by Rt Hon Maria Edeko, the immediate past Deputy Speaker of the Edo State House of Assembly.

Edeko, who officially commissioned the transformer on Tuesday, said it was part of the dividends of democracy to her constituency.

She said the 500-kva transformer would boost electricity supply in the Efandion community, which is one of her constituents.

She noted that electricity plays a vital role in economic growth and community development.

The People’s Democratic Party’s (PDP) legislator also added that it would bring much-needed relief to a community that had long been in the darkness, stating that electricity was the backbone of progress and development

She also opined that the new transformer would empower businesses, improve livelihoods, and restore hope for residents living along the Efandion community road after years of darkness.

She, however, assured her constituents of continued commitment, promising more infrastructure projects and development initiatives across Esan North East Constituency II to improve residents’ quality of life.

According to her, the transformer marks only the beginning. We will push forward with more projects to bring sustainable change, ensuring all wards enjoy access to essential services.

“For years, the Efandion road section of the community had suffered without electricity, enduring daily hardships and setbacks despite numerous appeals and efforts to restore power.

“The lack of transformer and infrastructure made life difficult, hampering business activities and everyday tasks, creating challenges that residents faced with resilience but no hope.

“Now, the installation of the new transformer usher in an era of uninterrupted and stable electricity, promising improved productivity and a brighter future for Efandion residents,” she said.

The elated community leaders, landlords, and residents, whose joys knew no bounds, expressed heartfelt gratitude to the immediate past Deputy Speaker, commending her dedication and perseverance in addressing a critical need that had been ignored for too long.

One of the leaders, who simply identified himself as Akhere, noted that the swift intervention of the lawmaker in providing the transformer had saved them from darkness.

Akhere added that the transformer has transformed daily life activities and restored the community’s confidence and dignity.

“This project is a clear demonstration of the lawmaker’s resolve to deliver meaningful change, addressing fundamental infrastructure deficits, and improving living conditions in her constituency,” he added.

He, however, pledged community support and collaboration for the legislator to sustain progress and ensure continued delivery of the dividends of democracy.
