The Paramount ruler of Enugu, His Royal Majesty, Sir Igue Samuel Ikechukwu Asado, the Ogadagidi of Eden and Ayi Ogeugwu of the ancient Kingdom of Nsuka Local Government Area on Wednesday in Sokoto said Nigeria would continue to exist as an indivisible entity no matter the hues and cried of the detractors.
The monarch who is the Chairman Enugu State Traditional Rulers Council and immediate past chairman of the Southeast Council of Traditional Rulers made the remarks in Sokoto while fielding from journalists at the Government House.
He said people should respect the culture, traditions, norms, and values of their host communities, adding they should also respect and abide by the laws of the land.
“Enugu and Sokoto have traditional and cultural similarities.
“Enugu is the heartland of the Igbos who were well-known for business and industrialization, Sokoto as the seat of the caliphate is the heart of northern Nigeria spiritually and religiously dates back to the period of the famous Jihadist, revered Sheikh Usumanu Dan Fodiyo of blessed memory.
“The Igbo community in Sokoto are having a good time according to their testimonies, “the state provided a conducive atmosphere of business for them coupled with free education enjoyed by their children all in the name of peace and harmony.
“We should be our brothers’ keepers wherever we find ourselves, we should learn to be accommodative and caring as a country, ” we need the support of one another if we want to succeed and survive.
“I am highly move by what I saw during my visit to Sokoto, there is development and transformation everywhere and the people are very hospitable.
“I brought the message of Hope and peace to the good people of Sokoto state who daily patronize Enugu for businesses, that they will continue to enjoy the peace and the hospitality of the people of Enugu state, ” peace is the backbone of every striving society and there are no two ways
“I cherish and religiously commend the Sokoto state Gov. Ahmed Aliyu for all that he has been to the Igbo community and indeed other residents communities in that state, “They should see the state as their second home, it’s where they are getting their means of livelihood”
“The Enugu state and Sokoto state Governor are friends and enjoy the support of their people for their transformation agendas, especially in the area of human capital and infrastructural development and infact that’s what we want to see in every state of the country,” the Paramount ruler said.
