The Emir of Rano, Ambassador Dr. Muhammad Isa Umaru, has ordered the cessation of services and operations of a church in a residential building in Rano Town, following a public petition.
According to a statement on Tuesday by Zonal Information Officer, Rabiu Khalil Kura, said the Emir’s was based on the findings of a committee tasked with overseeing affairs in the emirate.
The committee, which was formed before the Emir’s departure for Saudi Arabia to perform the Lesser Hajj, reported a petition from residents regarding a church operating in a residential building at Yadi Quarters, Rano Town, without following the proper legal processes.
In an address delivered by the Secretary of the Interim Committee, Umar Isa Sarki, said, it was revealed that the petition raised concerns about the unauthorized church services being conducted.
Upon receiving the committee’s report, the Emir directed that the church cease its activities immediately, warning that failure to comply could lead to further consequences under the authority of the emirate.
An investigation revealed that approximately 27 churches are operating within various parts of the Rano Local Government Area.
Efforts to contact the Chairman of the Christian Association in Rano Local Government for further comment were unsuccessful.
