The Emir of Kano, His Highness Muhammadu Sanusi II, has honoured Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, Director General of Media and Publicity to the Kano State Governor, along with ten other distinguished individuals, for their exceptional service and contributions to community development in Dawakin Tofa Local Government Area.

The recognition was part of the Emir’s two-day rangadi (royal tour) of Dawakin Tofa, during which he engaged with residents, traditional leaders, and youth groups to strengthen communal ties and address pressing social issues affecting the area.

Among the other honourees were Ibrahim Danyaro, Kamal Abubakar, Barrister Saleh Shehu Kuidawa, Sheikh Hafiz Ibrahim Nyass, Sheikh Salisu Zakariyya, Danliti YY Dawanau, Hon. Hamza Ibrahim Baba, Ismail Sani Mukhtar, CSP Isa Bello Audi, and Sheikh Zangina Chedi.

In his address, Emir Sanusi condemned the rising cases of drug abuse, phone snatching, and land grabbing in the area, describing them as major threats to peace, safety, and societal progress.

He urged the youth to shun criminal activities and instead embrace education, discipline, and hard work as pathways to a better future.

“Drugs and crime not only destroy the lives of individuals; they shatter families and tear apart the social fabric of our communities,” the Emir stated, earning widespread applause from the audience.

He further stressed the crucial role of responsible parenting in building a morally upright and productive society, calling on parents to devote more time and attention to the upbringing of their children.

Chairman of Dawakin Tofa Local Government Area, Hon. Anas Mukhtar Bello, explained that the awardees were selected purely on merit, in recognition of their dedication to selfless service and their relentless efforts to drive positive change within the community.

The Emir’s royal tour was marked by vibrant cultural displays and traditional hospitality, reflecting his deep-rooted commitment to community development and social reform across the emirate.

By honouring Bature and the ten others, the Emir of Kano reaffirmed the importance of community service, moral leadership, and civic responsibility as the foundation for sustainable development and societal progress.
