The Nigeria Consumer Protection Network (NCPN) has called on President Bola Tinubu to declare a state of emergency in the power sector.
The President of NCPN, Kunle Kola Olubiyo made the call in a statement on Tuesday.
He also called on Tinubu to review the power privatization exercise carried out in 2013 by former President Goodluck Jonathan.

‘You recalled that the Power Sector was privatized in the year 2013 with embedded design for a mid-term Review in 2018 and a Review of the 10 years Moratorium in 2013.
“Due to Regulatory Captured and Weakness of Regulatory Ecosystem System, there were several shifting of the Goal Post,
Regulatory Summersaults and Regulatory Subterfuge.
“The present State of overwhelming widespread Darkness being experienced in about 11 Northern States is nothing but a GLOBAL EMBARRASSMENT.
“They deserve a firm and proactive PRESIDENTAL DIRECTIVES / PRESIDENTIAL FIAT (EXECUTIVE ORDER).
“These are the expectations of Nigerians moving forward,” he said.
