The Deputy Governor Candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2023 Kano State elections, Murtala Sule Garo, has called for prayers for peace, unity, and progress in Nigeria on the occasion of the Eid el-Kabir.
This was disclosed in a statement he personally signed and made available to journalists on Thursday in commemoration of the Eid celebration.
Garo also prayed for the souls of the 22 Kano athletes who lost their lives in a recent road accident while returning from the National Sports Festival held in Ogun state.
He urged the people to remember them and their families in their prayers during this period of devotion.
The statement read in part, “I extend my heartfelt greetings to the Muslim Ummah in Kano State and across Nigeria.
“May the spirit of Eid el-Kabir bring peace and strengthen our bonds of unity.
“I also pray for the repose of the souls of our departed brothers, who died in the recent accident.
“May Allah grant them eternal rest and comfort their families,” Garo added.
He further encouraged the faithful to share with the less privileged and promote harmony in their communities during this festive season.
He stated, “Let us use this opportunity to extend our hands of kindness to those in need and ensure that everyone feels the joy of this blessed season.”
