Effective Data collection has been identified as the key factor in formulating policies and Initiatives to address challenges militating the reproductive health sector in Jigawa state.
This was noted on Sunday during a meeting with Reproductive Health Coordinators of the 13 local government areas of the state and other stakeholders in Dutse capital.
The meeting which was supported by Challenge Initiative (TCI) and DevComs has described the high rate of child and maternal death in the state as a source of concern and all stakeholders must work together to reduce it to a minimal level.
In his speech at the meeting, the TCI Program Manager in Jigawa State, Mr, Ankale Kongude, said the essence of the meeting was to discuss and review the challenges around data collection on reproductive health including implementation of child spacing/family planning.
He said strengthening data collection and utilization for decision-making and policy formulation will help improve reproductive health and other public healthcare services delivery.
Speaking on behalf of the Reproductive Health Coordinator, Yankwashi local government area, Malama Amina Dauda Bala Yankwashi, said the issues deliberated on and decisions taken will be implemented at their various local government level.
“As TCI/Devcom has been a committed partner to the Jigawa state government on reproductive health, at our level we will continue to join hands with you to improve the sector particularly your area of intervention,” Aminu said.
