President Félix Tshisekedi of the Democratic Republic of Congo has announced a partial cabinet reshuffle, introducing two opposition politicians into his government in a move seen as an effort to broaden political consensus.

The shake-up, unveiled on Friday, comes months after Tshisekedi launched “political consultations” with various stakeholders.

Former Prime Minister Adolphe Muzito was appointed Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Budget, while Floribert Anzuluni, leader of a small opposition party, takes over as Minister of Regional Integration.

Several ministers were reassigned, including Eve Bazaiba, who moves from the environment portfolio to social affairs, and Aimé Boji, who shifts from budget to industry. Judith Suminwa retains her position as Prime Minister.

Analysts suggest the reshuffle could be aimed at strengthening Tshisekedi’s political base and fostering unity ahead of the 2028 presidential election.
