Dr. Isma’il Aliyu Danmaraya has assumed duty as the Commissioner of Finance in Kano State.
He tasked employees of the Ministry with diligence and teamwork to achieve success.
According to him, it is with unity of purpose that the Ministry can achieve its mandate and overall vision of driving the progress of the state.
He stated this while taking over the affairs of the Ministry, a day after his inauguration as its 33rd Commissioner, since its creation in 1967.
Dr. Danmaraya, who earned a doctorate in Economics, has a strong background in research in energy policy and environmental economics, with significant publications in reputable international journals.
He has several years of teaching experience at Northwest University, Kano, and American University of Nigeria, Adamawa.
The new commissioner said he aims to carry everybody along, pointing out he desires to leave a legacy of collective success.
“While I hope that we work together for the collective good of Kano, beyond your cooperation, I also seek your prayers to enable me to deliver. You should feel free to offer suggestions and advice on how we can make progress and avoid pitfalls”, Dr. Danmaraya emphasized.
Receiving the new Commissioner, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Sabiú Muhammad, explained that it is saddled with the responsibility of the government’s financial management policy formulation and management and control of expenditures, among other things.
The Permanent Secretary mentioned that the Ministry has eleven departments comprising a loyal and dedicated workforce, who are determined to ensure that it does not fail in executing its mandate.
After the handing over formalities, the Commissioner met behind closed doors with the Management staff of the ministry to acquaint himself with its functions.
