The Renewed Hope Agenda, designed by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to uplift citizens and reset Nigeria’s development trajectory, was meant to thrive on transparency, unity, and the collective involvement of genuine stakeholders.
Its goals, job creation, security, infrastructure renewal, education, healthcare, digital expansion, and social welfare were built on the principle of empowering every ward and local government without discrimination.
But in Kano State, the program has been deliberately crippled.
Senator Barau I. Jibrin’s brazen hijacking of the appointment process has brought the Renewed Hope Agenda in Kano to a complete standstill effectively dead-on arrival.
His unilateral actions, executed without consultation or party consensus, have derailed President Tinubu’s vision and sabotaged the intended grassroots impact.
Without immediate correction, Kano will remain the only state where the Renewed Hope Agenda is blocked from success by internal sabotage.
President Tinubu’s structure was clear: Governor Hope Uzodimma as National Coordinator, Malam Salihu Sagir Takai as Kano State Coordinator, and a cascading system across LGAs and wards.
Yet Senator Barau has forcefully disrupted this orderly process for personal political control. Instead of democratizing the structure, he has converted it into a private political empire.
Multiple APC insiders confirm that what is happening in Kano is not coordination it is hostile takeover.
Even loyal APC members aligned with Senator Barau are now warning openly. Hon. Ibrahim Abdullahi condemned the ongoing manipulation, stating that these lopsided appointments will divide the APC and shatter its 2027 prospects.
The reckless exclusion of central figures including Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, federal lawmakers, state lawmakers, and returning APC members exposes a desperate attempt to weaken opponents and weaponize the Renewed Hope structure for narrow political ambition.
At a time when Kano APC is battling internal tensions over the 2027 governorship race, anyone intentionally hijacking a national presidential programme is not strengthening the party they are tearing it apart from within.
The Renewed Hope Agenda is a national platform for development, not a political war chest for suppression and intimidation.
For these reasons, we urgently call on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to step in immediately.
The APC leadership in Kano under Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje must be directed to convene all Senators, Members of the House of Representatives, State Assembly Members, and other critical stakeholders to reset the entire process.
Only a transparent and party-driven selection system can rescue the Renewed Hope Agenda from internal sabotage and reposition the APC for unity, stability, and victory in 2027.
