Customs Area 1 Records 65.3% Revenue Surge, Generates N141.6bn in First Half of 2025

The Nigerian Customs Service Area 1 Port Harcourt Command says it has generated a total revenue of One Hundred and Forty One Billion, Six Hundred and Twenty One Million, Nine Hundred and One Thousand, One Hundred and Eleven Naira, Twenty kobo (₦141,621,901,111.20) for the first half of 2025.

This was contained in a press release made available to our correspondent Thursday by the Command’s Public Relations officer, ASC Barilule Jane Aanee in Port Harcourt the Rivers State capital.

According to the statement, the figure  when compared to the revenue generated within the same period in 2024, which stood at One Hundred and Six Billion, Five Hundred and Ninety Three Million, Seven Hundred and Thirty Five Thousand, Four Hundred and Sixty Nine Naira, Ninety One kobo (₦106,593,735,469.91), is more by Thirty Five Billion, Twenty Eight Million, One Hundred and Sixty Five Thousand, Six Hundred and Forty One Naira, Twenty Nine kobo (₦35,028,165,641.29), representing a 32.9% increase.

Commenting on the development, the Customs Area 1   Controller, Comptroller YM  Hashim,said  “It is important to note that the revenue collected in the months under review represents 65.3% of the total revenue target of the year 2025 which is ₦216.9 Billion and also exceeds the half year cumulative target of ₦108 Billion.”

Continuing, Comptroller Hashim noted that in terms of quarterly performance, the Command has generated fifty six billion, one hundred and fourteen million, four hundred and sixty one thousand, three hundred and fourteen naira, thirty six kobo (₦56,114,461,314.36) in the first quarter and eighty five billion, five hundred and seven million, four hundred and thirty nine thousand, seven hundred and ninety six naira, eighty four kobo (₦85,507,439,796.84) in the second quarter of 2025.

He added  “This is in comparison to the forty three billion, six hundred and twenty five million, nine hundred and eighty six thousand, one hundred and sixty eight naira, forty kobo (₦43,625,986,168.40) and sixty two billion, nine hundred and sixty seven million, seven hundred and forty nine thousand, three hundred and one naira, fifty one kobo (₦62,967,749,301.51) realized in the first and second quarters of 2024, respectively, indicates a quarterly increase of ₦12.49 billion in Q1 and ₦22.54 billion in Q2.”

He reiterated that such feat was made possible as a result of robust synergy  between the critical stakeholders and other sister agencies.

 His Words: “This revenue height was not without the cooperation of relevant stakeholders and sister agencies. Their continued support and cooperation contributed greatly to the Command’s efficient operations and revenue success“ he stated.

Comptroller Hashim who appreciated the commitment of the officers and men of the Command also applauded  other units from NCS Headquarters whom  according to him, contributed immensely to blocking the revenue leakages insisting that their hard work and dedication was  instrumental to the achievement.

The Area 1 Customs boss, however extended his sincere gratitude to the Comptroller General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, and his management team for their unwavering support even as he urged all stakeholders to remain compliant to Customs regulations and be committed to building on the momentum for greater results as the command entered into the Second half of the year.
