The Kano State Ministry of Justice has secured a conviction as the High Court of Kano State, sitting at Court No. 24, Bompai, under Hon. Justice Aisha Mahmud, on Thursday, sentenced Abdulaziz Adamu (alias Mai Kayan Miya) to death by hanging for the kidnapping and murder of Ali Ghana.
According to the facts presented before the court, the convict conspired with one Abdullahi Alhassan (alias Danmama) to abduct the victim at Dawakin Kudu on 16 June 2023. Despite receiving a N15 million ransom, the convict went on to kill the victim.
Acting on intelligence, operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) raided the residence of the first defendant on 16 June 2024, where 15 dead bodies were discovered. During interrogation, he confessed to the crime and implicated the second defendant.
The prosecution, led by Barrister Lamido Soron Dinki, called three witnesses to prove its case.
After reviewing the evidence, the court found the first defendant guilty and sentenced him to death, while the second defendant was discharged due to insufficient evidence.
The Ministry reaffirmed its commitment to upholding justice, ensuring public safety, and supporting the judiciary in bringing criminals to face the full weight of the law.
