The Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Mr. Olayemi Cardoso, will lead the country’s delegation to the 2025 World Bank and International Monetary Fund (IMF) Annual Meetings scheduled to open on Monday, in Washington, D.C.
Cardoso, who will serve as Nigeria’s alternate governor at the meetings, is representing the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Mr. Wale Edun, who is currently indisposed.
A statement on Sunday by the Special Adviser to the President (Information & Strategy), Bayo Onanuga, said the Nigerian delegation will also include the Minister of State for Finance, Doris Uzoka-Anite.
According to the World Bank, the week-long event will feature key sessions such as the Development Committee Plenary on October 16 and the International Monetary and Financial Committee (IMFC) meeting on October 17.
Other activities lined up include regional briefings, press conferences, and forums focusing on international development, the global economy, and financial markets.
The Annual Meetings bring together central bankers, finance ministers, and key policymakers from around the world to discuss global economic issues, financial stability, and strategies for sustainable development.
