Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni officially signed the 2026 Appropriation and Finance Bills into law.

This significant event follows the earlier presentation of the bills to the state House of Assembly on November 6, 2025.

During the signing ceremony, Governor Buni expressed gratitude to Almighty Allah and commended the Honourable Members of the House of Assembly for their dedication and prompt deliberation, which ensured the passage of the budget bills.

He emphasized that the 2026 budget, titled the “Budget of Economic Growth and Infrastructural Transformation,” will continue to focus on advancing sectors such as education, health, agriculture, and infrastructure to enhance the lives of the people of Yobe State.

The approved budget totals N515,532,000,000, with allocations adjusted to facilitate a 62% focus on capital expenditures amounting to N291,903,650, while N223,628,350 is designated for recurrent services. Governor Buni reaffirmed the government’s commitment to accountability, transparency, and efficient use of resources, aiming to maintain Yobe State’s leadership in fiscal responsibility and sustainability.

In addition to the budget signing, the Governor acknowledged the recent swearing-in of Alhaji Adamu Jibrin as the new Chairman of Yusufari Local Government Council, following the passing of Alhaji Bah Abba Aji. He urged the new chairman to prioritize security and work collaboratively with local security forces and traditional authorities to maintain peace in the area.

Concluding his address, Governor Buni encouraged all citizens to support government initiatives for collective progress and to pray for enhanced security in Yobe State and the broader North-East region of Nigeria.
