Brentford have turned down an improved offer from Manchester United worth up to £62.5 million for forward Bryan Mbeumo.
United’s latest bid included £55 million upfront and £7.5 million in potential add-ons for the 25-year-old Cameroon international. It follows a previous offer earlier this month of £45 million plus £10 million in add-ons, which was also rejected.
Looking to boost their attacking options, United recently secured Matheus Cunha from Wolves for £62.5 million. Brentford are reportedly holding out for a similar guaranteed fee before considering Mbeumo’s sale, especially with the player still having a year remaining on his contract.
Mbeumo enjoyed a standout season in 2024–25, netting a career-best 20 goals and providing nine assists. His performances have attracted interest from other top clubs, including Tottenham, where new manager Thomas Frank—Mbeumo’s former boss at Brentford—is eager for a reunion. Several Champions League sides are also monitoring the situation.
While Mbeumo is a close friend and international teammate of United goalkeeper André Onana, his involvement in the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco means he would miss up to four weeks of the 2025–26 season. Cameroon begin their campaign against Gabon on December 24.
Signed from French side Troyes in 2019, Mbeumo has scored 70 goals in 242 appearances for Brentford and played a pivotal role in their promotion to the Premier League in 2021.
