Borno State Governor, Prof. Babagana Zulum, on Thursday inaugurated the Borno Plastic Factory and announced the start of nationwide distribution and export of its products to Chad and Cameroon.

During an inspection of the facility located in the new Maiduguri Industrial Area, Zulum said the project was part of his administration’s drive to industrialise the state and reduce reliance on federal allocations.

“I am happy to note that people from Borno State will no longer procure plastic materials from other places,” he said, revealing that the factory has already fulfilled international and local orders.

Zulum explained that the factory, initially built under former Governor Kashim Shettima, was revived and expanded under his administration through a Public-Private Partnership with Tatabe Global Services, which manages operations and marketing.

Now operating at full capacity, the factory produces various household and industrial items such as chairs, tables, and basins, creating hundreds of jobs for residents.

“The factory has become a model for industrial revival and youth empowerment in our state,” Zulum added.

He was accompanied on the inspection by the Speaker of the Borno State House of Assembly, Abdulkarim Lawan, and other top officials.
