The Benue State All Progressives Congress (APC) has claimed a sweeping victory in the Local Government Council elections held on Saturday, 5 October 2024.
The results indicate overwhelming support for APC candidates in the state, further solidifying the party’s influence.
The state Governor, Alia Governor Hyacinth in a statement by his spokesperson, Sir Tersoo Kula, appreciated the good people of Benue State for their peaceful and orderly conduct, active participation and overwhelming support for the candidates of APC during the just concluded Local Government elections.
He describes the successful outcome of the elections, which were devoid of violence, as a reflection of the maturity of the Benue people to engage in a democratic process with respect and dignity, upholding peace and unity which are critical to the progress of the state.
“I extend my heartfelt gratitude to every one of you for your active participation in the recent Local Government elections across our 23 Local Governments. Your commitment to exercising your franchise peacefully and civilly is commendable and reflects the maturity of our democracy.
“The successful conduct of these elections, free from violence, is a testament to our collective resolve to uphold the values of peace and unity that are fundamental to our progress as a state.
“I am proud to see our citizens trooping out to make their voices heard, demonstrating that we can engage in the democratic process with respect and dignity.”
Comrade Austin Agada, the APC State Chairman, hailed the victory as a reflection of the people’s trust in the party’s leadership and commitment to fostering progress and development in the state.
“This victory is for every resident of Benue who believes in progress, development, and good governance,” Agada remarked, expressing gratitude for the broad-based support.
In his statement, Daniel Ihomun, the APC State Publicity Secretary, thanked the people of Benue for their unwavering support, highlighting the inclusive nature of the victory.
“The APC dedicates this victory to all Benue residents, regardless of their political affiliations. It is a triumph of unity and shared vision for a better future,” Ihomun said.
