The Bauchi State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) has announced the dissolution of all Area Education and School Support Officer teams across the 20 local government areas of the state, in a sweeping move aimed at strengthening educational oversight and improving learning outcomes in public schools.

SUBEB Chairman, Alhaji Adamu Mohammed Duguri, made the announcement during an interactive session with education secretaries from the LGAs.

He said the dissolution is part of a broader strategy to reform monitoring and supervision structures within the local education system.

Affected by the decision are Arabic and Christian visiting teachers, Early Child Care Development (ECCDE) officers, education supervisors, and library supervisors operating under the 20 Local Education Authorities (LEAs).

Duguri explained that the overhaul is designed to enhance service delivery and ensure more efficient support to schools.

In a press statement released by the board’s Public Relations Officer, Isah Mohammed Jungudo, SUBEB directed relevant departments within the board and the LEAs to facilitate a smooth transition, protect official records, and safeguard ongoing educational initiatives.

Going forward, only school support officers appointed by the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC), SUBEB, and the LEAs will be recognized for supervisory responsibilities.

Duguri added that new appointments would soon be made by education secretaries, based on revised criteria aimed at standardizing and enhancing school support effectiveness.

He also revealed that updated operational guidelines will be distributed to all LEAs to ensure uniformity and quality in school support services.

All officers affected by the dissolution have been directed to report to their respective LGEA headquarters immediately for assessment and documentation.
