Bago Launches 2026 Armed Forces Remembrance Emblem, Donates N50m

Niger State Governor, farmer Mohammed Umaru Bago, has launched the 2026 Armed Forces Remembrance Day Emblem and appeal week with a donation of N50 million.

The farmer Governor shortly after the launch of the emblem was decorated by the Chairman, Nigerian Legion, Niger State Council, Veteran Garba Babangida at the Council Chamber of the Government House Minna.

Farmer Umaru Bago said the donation should be splitted equally between the veterans’ men and the widows whom he appreciated for their perseverance, pointing out that widows have to be supported.

The Farmer Governor who acknowledged the sacrifices made by the Nigerian Armed Forces who put their lives on the line to protect the Country to ensure unity and reassure the State government’s continued support.

Farmer Umaru Bago also highlighted the need for the Legion to liaise with key stakeholders and relevant agencies of the State government to enable the to benefit from empowerment programs.

He also assured them that the state government will assist them through agriculture by assisting them cultivate farm lands, tilt and even harvest crops for them.

The farmer Governor as well as solicited for collaboration with the Legion as the State, is trying to build forest guards, and the experience of the legionnaires will be useful in that regard.

The Chairman, Nigerian Legion, Niger State Council, Veteran Garba Babangida used the medium to appreciate the fatherly role played by the Governor in the release of the abducted school children of Papiri .

He informed the farmer Governor of the Legion’s plans to organize a one week training for widows and youth of fallen heroes to give them the opportunity to learn how to make seasonings and beverages and be self sufficient.

Veteran Garba also disclosed plans to recruit youth into the Nigerian Legion Corps of Commissionaires in all states of the federation as soon as approval is obtained from the federal government.

He reassured the farmer Governor of the Legion’s commitment to continue to contribute their quota in the area of security and agricultural development .
