On Saturday, Niger State Governor, farmer Mohammed Umaru Bago, assured farmers of adequate provision of fertiliser and farm inputs to be distributed to farmers at a subsidised rate for the coming farming season.
Bologi Ibrahim, the Governor’s spokesperson, disclosed in a statement that the Governor Bago gave the assurance during iftar with the Emir of Minna and stakeholders of the Emirate at the Emir’s palace.
According to the statement, the governor said government has procured many trucks of fertiliser in that regard, adding that his administration will intensify efforts and support security agencies to sustain the relative peace in the Emirate so that farmers can peacefully engage in farming activities in the coming rainy season.
He also enjoined the Emir to lift the ban placed on the Durbar especiall during religious festival in the Emirate so that the cultural heritage would be strengthened and preserved.
Bago appreciated the Emir for the breaking of the Ramadan fast, saying it’s a good gesture that should be sustained across the eight Emirates in the State.
He reminded the people of the state of the need to deepen their prayers, especially in this season where both Muslims and Christians are fasting, so that the blessings, favour and mercy of God will continue to abound.
The governor also charged the people to continue to be patient and show understanding with leaders at all levels and pray for them to succeed in their leadership.
The Emir of Minna, Alh. Umar Farouk Bahago thanked the farmer governor and his entourage for honouring the emirate by gracing the breaking of the Ramadan fast.
He also appreciated the farmer governor for his resilience, commitment, and purposeful leadership in the state.
The Emir prays that Allah will grant him success throughout his administration while reassuring him of his Emirate’s unalloyed support to his policies and programmes that have a direct bearing on the people.
The Chief Imam of Minna Central Mosque, Isah Jibrin, offered special prayers for the farmer governor, the Emir, and for an enduring peace in the Emirate, state, and country at large.
