Niger State Governor, farmer Mohammed Umaru Bago, has called for strict measures against informants to bandits.

The farmer governor made the call when he led a state delegation to commiserate with the Emir of Borgu, Alh. Muhammad Haliru Dantoro Kitoro IV, at his palace in New Bussa over the kidnapping.

He observed that informants are mostly behind terrorist attacks and that stiffer measures against them would help in addressing insecurity.

The farmer governor explained that security agents,in collaboration with the state government, are making concerted efforts to ensure that kidnapped school children of St. Mary’s Catholic Schools Papiri, Agwara, are rescued in no distant time.

He also emphasised the need for people to collaborate with security agencies by providing useful information that will lead to the rescue of the children while cautioning the people against religious bigotry and intolerance to avoid disharmony among people.

The Emir of Borgu, Muhammad Haliru Dantoro Kitoro IV appreciated the visit and described him as a passionate and exemplary leader who has shown that he loves and cares for his people.

The Emir decried how bandits have taken over the Borgu forest and called on the state and federal governments to reclaim it and make it viable.

Minister of State for Agriculture Aliyu Sabi Abdullahi commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his swift response to the incident and expressed belief that the children will be rescued and banditry activities will also come to an end.
