The All Progressives Congress (APC) has further cemented its national cohesion and internal democratic culture following the successful conduct of its Sokoto State Congress, which produced a new set of state executives through a consensus arrangement.

The congress, supervised by the State Congress Committee Chairman, Professor Muztaz Aliyu Abubakar, was widely commended by party stakeholders as peaceful, transparent and a reflection of the party’s renewed commitment to unity, discipline and stability across the country.

At the conclusion of the exercise, Alhaji Haruna Sarkin Gobir Adiyya emerged as State Chairman, while Alhaji Yahaya Buhari was elected Deputy Chairman.

Barrister Bello Abdullahi secured the position of State Secretary, Abubakar S. Fada emerged as Assistant Secretary, and Muhammad Umar was elected Public Relations Officer (PRO), alongside other members of the State Executive Committee.

Delivering his welcome address, the outgoing State Chairman, Hon. Isah Sadeeq Achida, expressed appreciation to party leaders, delegates and members for their unwavering support throughout his tenure.

Achida described the congress as a significant milestone for the APC in Sokoto State and Nigeria at large, noting that the peaceful consensus process demonstrated the party’s political maturity and collective resolve.

He urged the newly elected executives to remain focused on strengthening grassroots structures, deepening internal democracy and aligning the state chapter with the broader national agenda of the APC.

According to him, unity remains the cornerstone of electoral success and sustainable governance.

The outgoing chairman also called on members to rally behind the new leadership to consolidate the party’s achievements and strategically position it for future political engagements.

In his post election address, the newly elected Chairman, Haruna Sarkin Gobir Adiyya, thanked delegates and party leaders for the confidence reposed in him and the executive team.

He described his emergence as a shared victory for all party faithful in Sokoto State and pledged to lead an inclusive, transparent and result oriented administration.

Adiyya assured that under his leadership, the state chapter would intensify stakeholder consultations, enforce party discipline and mobilize members across all levels in line with the APC’s national vision.

He emphasized that consensus should be viewed not as exclusion but as a demonstration of unity and common purpose, stressing the need for the party to remain focused on electoral success and progressive governance at both state and federal levels.

Political observers note that the peaceful conduct of the Sokoto State Congress aligns with a broader pattern of internal consolidation within the APC nationwide, reinforcing its organizational strength ahead of future electoral cycles.

With the new executive now in place, expectations are high that the Sokoto chapter will assume a more strategic role in advancing the policies and political direction of the APC across Nigeria.
