The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Sokoto State has expressed its readiness to fully participate in the forthcoming local government elections scheduled to be held in September 2024.
The state APC chairman Hon. Isah Sadiq Acida disclosed this on Saturday when he submitted the lists of the 23 local government Chairmanship and councillorship candidates to the State Independent Electoral Commission (SIEC) on Saturday.
He said APC has duly conducted its primaries in the presence of the state electoral commission and security agencies in the state.
The Executive Chairman of the Commission, Aliyu Sulaiman, while receiving the names of the nominees said the commission is all set to start the screening of candidates submitted to the commission in preparation for the forthcoming election.
He assured that no one would be witchhunted during the screening exercise as the commission’s role is to screen the qualified candidate and to ensure that their documents were up to date before the date of the election.
The Chairman further said the commission will commence the screening of candidates standing for election on the 7th of August 2024.
In attendance during the presentation of the nominees at the SIEC Secretariat on Saturday are, the state APC Chairman, Hon. Isah Sadeeq Achida, and all members of the State Executive Committee.
