The Chairman of the Nigerian Amalgamated Traders/Artisans Welfare Development Association (AMATA), Abdul’aziz Dalha Musa, has expressed the association’s solidarity and support for Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, following his recent defection, stating that the decision clearly demonstrates the Governor’s patriotism and commitment to the overall development of Kano State.
He made this known when members of the association paid a courtesy visit to the Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs.
According to the Chairman, the state government is executing meaningful developmental projects across Kano, assuring that traders and artisans would continue to support the government to ensure the successful implementation of infrastructural projects as well as the sustenance of peace in the state.
He also appealed to the state government to continue supporting traders and artisans and to actively involve them in policies and programmes aimed at enhancing commercial activities in Kano State.
Responding, the Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Comrade Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya, described the recent political realignment by Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf as a selfless and strategic decision aimed at prioritising the overall interest and development of Kano State above personal or sectional considerations.
Comrade Waiya explained that, the Governor’s decision reflects his deep love for Kano State and his determination to fast-track development in line with global best practices, where peace, unity, and sustainable growth form the foundation of governance.
According to him, the move is consistent with the administration’s “Kano First” agenda, which places the collective interest of the people above all other considerations.
He noted that, the people of Kano State are living witnesses to the Governor’s commitment to development, stressing that about 900 projects are currently being executed across the 44 local government areas of the state.
These projects, he said, cut across critical sectors aimed at improving the living standards of the people.
The Commissioner further disclosed that Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has declared the current year as one that is devoted to the welfare and well-being of the people of Kano State, especially the youth, assuring that traders and artisans across the state would also benefit immensely from the various policies and interventions designed to strengthen economic activities.
Comrade Waiya commended members of the association for their show of solidarity and support for the Governor’s decision, noting that the “Kano First” agenda is also intended to deepen cooperation with the Federal Government with a view to attracting major developmental projects and investment opportunities to the state.
