Governor Ahmed Aliyu of Sokoto State has empowered 500 vulnerable women and youths with sewing machines and N50,000.00 as start-up capital.
The sewing machines and cash were presented to the beneficiaries by the Governor in collaboration with the Office of the Senior Special Assistant on Community Development and the Ministry for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs.
He lauded the office of the Special Adviser for their passion in promoting the welfare and well-being of the people of the state while calling for more support and cooperation for the success of his set 9-point smart Agenda.
Presenting the item to the beneficiaries, Governor Aliyu said it was meant to support the women and Youths in the state to reposition themselves against the socioeconomic challenges and enhance their livelihoods.
He said all the beneficiaries were carefully selected for the empowerment, and urged them to use the sewing machine and startup capital to improve their living standard.
The Governor commended women and Youths in the state for their resilience and support of his administration while calling for more support and cooperation from the people in his quest to transform the state.
Earlier, the Special Adviser, Hon. Garba Aliyu Maitumbi Kebbe, said the sewing machine and cash presented would go a long way in tackling the economic challenges faced by the beneficiaries and their families.
In his remarks, the State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Ibrahim Dadi Adare (Dallatun Gobir), pledged his Ministry’s continued support to the success of the 9-point smart Agenda of Governor Aliyu-led administration.
One of the beneficiaries, Miss Aishatu Mohammed interviewed by our correspondent from Sokoto North local government expressed joy for the gift of a sewing machine by the Governor, assuring that the item will serve as an asset to her improve in her Struggle to establish a tailoring business.
