Musa Na Allah, Sokoto

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Sokoto State has reaffirmed the authenticity of its leadership structure, addressing what it described as recurring misinformation regarding the party’s chairmanship.

In a statement made available to newsmen on Monday, the recognized state chairman, Muhammad Umar, the party made it clear that Bello Isiyaku (Keegan) is not and has not been the Chairman of the ADC in Sokoto since September 2022.

His removal, the leadership noted, followed disciplinary actions instituted by the national body for seeking the party’s 2023 governorship ticket without clearance and in violation of established procedures.

The ADC explained that a new leadership was subsequently constituted and ratified by the national headquarters, ensuring a smooth transition and continuity of activities within the state.

The statement also noted that Umar, the legitimate chairman, represented Sokoto State at the emergency mini-convention held in Zaria on 22 September 2022, where critical decisions, including the reaffirmation of Chief Ralph Nwosu as national leader, were adopted.

The convention, it added, received full legal and electoral recognition, granting Nwosu a one-year caretaker mandate before the transition of authority to the current Interim National Chairman, Senator David Mark.

The party sternly cautioned Bello Isiyaku to desist from parading himself as chairman or making public statements on behalf of the ADC.

It also warned media organizations, political actors and individuals against providing him platforms to issue unauthorized claims, stating that such actions amount to complicity in misrepresentation.

The ADC concluded by asserting that it remains unified, legally structured and firmly aligned with national directives, vowing not to tolerate future misuse of the party’s identity or authority.
