Registered members of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Ontario, Canada, have rejected the reported delisting of the party’s leadership, describing it as illegal, and urged Nigerians both at home and in the diaspora to vote out the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 general elections.
The group also accused the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) of undue interference in party affairs, calling on Nigerians to remain resolute in their determination to unseat the ruling party.
In a statement issued in Port Harcourt and signed by ADC Chieftain in Ontario, Joe Korka-Waadah, the members urged party leadership not to be discouraged by what they described as the “shenanigans” of a “compromised” electoral body.
Korka-Waadah, who also serves as Executive Director of the Compassionate Heart Foundation of Canada, called on party faithful to unite around the ADC as a viable platform for political change ahead of 2027.
He expressed confidence in former Rivers State governor, Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, describing him as best positioned to secure the party’s presidential ticket and lead Nigeria toward recovery.
“We have the chance to make it right in 2027. The ADC is the only platform that can deliver the change needed to address hunger, insecurity, and economic hardship,” he said.
Korka-Waadah warned that failure to make the right leadership choice could have grave consequences for the country, insisting that Amaechi’s experience as Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, two-term governor, and former Minister of Transportation makes him the most suitable candidate.
He further noted that Amaechi possesses the capacity to assume leadership immediately, citing his experience, education, and national appeal across regions.
The ADC leader stressed that Nigerians cannot continue under the current economic and security challenges, adding that the party must present a strong and widely accepted candidate capable of challenging the APC in 2027.
He also disclosed that Nigerians in Canada are firmly backing Amaechi’s potential candidacy and cautioned the party against fielding what he termed a weak candidate in the upcoming election.
