The Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) has inaugurated a three-man Asset Recovery Panel to trace and reclaim the guild’s properties allegedly mismanaged or wrongfully appropriated by past leaders.
AGN National President, Dr Emeka Rollas, unveiled the panel during an interactive session with the guild’s Board of Trustees (BOT) on Wednesday in Abuja, where the new national secretariat was also formally presented.
According to Rollas, the panel, chaired by Onwurah Ifeanyi with Garba Muazu as secretary and Sydney Diala as member, has been tasked with recovering cars, buses, furnished offices, landed property, equipment, and other assets lost by the guild over the past two decades.
“To safeguard our future and set a clear deterrent against such practices, we have set up the AGN Asset Recovery Panel. This panel is empowered to trace, identify, and recover these assets, whether financial, material, or infrastructural, working with allied government agencies like the Police, EFCC and ICPC,” Rollas said.
He added that the move would not only restore what is rightfully the guild’s but also strengthen accountability and integrity within its ranks.
Rollas, who is serving his final tenure, also announced that the BOT had inaugurated a National Electoral Committee (AGNEC) to oversee the next guild election.
Reflecting on his seven-year leadership, he highlighted achievements such as fostering unity among members, launching the AGN Super App, and introducing a retail health management plan to provide affordable healthcare.
In his remarks, BOT Secretary Sonny McDon commended Rollas and his team for their “passionate commitment” to the guild, noting that their efforts had earned the board’s full support.
