Yusuf Vows to Complete Wuju Wuju Road, Reconstruct Dilapidated Zungeru Road

Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to completing the Wuju Wuju Road project, which begins from Aminu Kano Way and ends at Airport Road.

He declared this while inspecting the Jakara Culvert along Zungeru Road in the Sabon Gari area.

He explained that the dual carriageway would be constructed on the culvert and equipped with streetlights to enhance the state’s aesthetics and improve traffic flow.

In a statement issued by the Governor’s spokesperson, Malam Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, on Wednesday, Governor Yusuf expressed disappointment over the previous administration’s abandonment of the ambitious project despite its potential to ease vehicular movement across the state.

Governor Yusuf noted that upon assuming office, his administration ensured the completion of the first phase of the road from Aminu Kano Way to Aisami in Gwale Local Government Area.

He assured that the remaining sections, which pass through Dala, Fagge, and Ungogo areas, would be completed in due course.

He urged residents along the planned road to support the government’s initiative by refraining from dumping refuse in the culvert.

He lamented that such practices have caused flooding, resulting in the loss of lives and property.

On the dilapidated Zungeru Road, the governor assured residents that its reconstruction would soon be approved and called on the community to support the contractor to ensure the successful execution of the project.

He added that contractors would be directed to employ local youth, providing them with job opportunities and a means of livelihood.

Earlier, the Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Engr. Marwan Ahmad informed the governor that the contract for Zungeru Road reconstruction was in its final stages and would soon be executed.
