The Kano State Consumer Protection Council (KCPC) has seized about 419 cartons of expired agricultural chemicals stored at a location along Club Road in Kano metropolis.

The seizure followed credible intelligence received by the Council indicating that the expired chemicals had been stockpiled at the premises, allegedly with plans to alter their condition and reintroduce them into the market.

Officials of the Council recovered the products during the operation and subsequently sealed the premises pending the completion of investigations and commencement of appropriate legal action.

Speaking on the development, KCPC Executive Secretary, Dr. Ibrahim Garba Muhammad, said the operation was part of the Council’s sustained efforts to prevent the circulation of adulterated, expired and unsafe products in the state.

He said the Council remained committed to protecting consumers from products that could endanger their health and safety.

Dr. Muhammad urged members of the public to remain vigilant and report suspected cases of adulterated, expired or unsafe products to the Council to support efforts to rid the state of harmful goods.

He also commended the Kano State Government under the leadership of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf for its continued support, which he said had enabled the Council to discharge its responsibilities effectively and without fear or favour.

The Executive Secretary further called on traders, companies and individuals to promptly contact the Council through its designated communication channels whenever they encounter or suspect products that may be unsafe or unsuitable for use.
