The Kano State Ministry for Public Procurement Projects Monitoring and Evaluation (MPPPME), under the leadership of the Honourable Commissioner, Comrade Nura Ma’aji Sumaila, on Tuesday, conducted a comprehensive joint multi-stakeholder monitoring and evaluation exercise across Wudil and Rimin Gado Local Government Areas.
The collaborative monitoring exercise brought together officials of the Ministry, local government authorities, traditional institutions, community representatives, and other stakeholders to strengthen transparency, enhance accountability, encourage community participation in public projects, and carry out pre-implementation assessments and public sensitization on newly approved government projects.
During the exercise, the monitoring team inspected a total of 28 developmental projects.
This comprised 19 projects in Wudil Local Government Area with a cumulative contract value of N3,431,640,660.98, and 9 projects in Rimin Gado Local Government Area valued at N1,135,229,343.69.
The inspection tour commenced in Wudil Local Government Area, where the Honourable Commissioner was received by the Vice Chairman of Wudil Local Government, Abubakar Bello Dan Fulani, alongside the Education Secretary, Idris Ibrahim Indabo, and other local government officials.
The delegation embarked on an extensive inspection of completed and ongoing projects aimed at improving educational infrastructure, security, and public facilities across the area.
Projects visited included the construction of classroom blocks at Darki Model Primary School, construction of perimeter fencing and modern toilet facilities at Utai Central Primary School.
Others are Phase One construction of classroom blocks under the Gida-Gida Program, renovation of classrooms at Fauden Primary School, construction of Neighbourhood Security Watch Division Offices, and inspection of ongoing maintenance works along the 5-kilometre dual-carriage road project.
The Commissioner expressed satisfaction with the quality and pace of work on several of the projects while urging contractors handling ongoing projects to maintain quality standards and complete their assignments within the agreed contractual timelines.
Rimin Gado Seeks More Government Developmental Interventions
The monitoring exercise took a significant turn in Rimin Gado Local Government Area, where community leaders and government officials passionately appealed for additional developmental projects to address the area’s growing infrastructure needs.
Speaking after the project inspection, the Executive Chairman of Rimin Gado Local Government, Hon. Sani Salisu Jili, alongside the District Head of Rimin Gado, Auwalu Mudi Yakasai, Dan Malikin Kano, commended the administration of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf for fulfilling many of his campaign promises through the implementation of people-oriented projects across Kano State.
The Chairman particularly praised the remarkable transformation witnessed in the health sector, noting that Primary Healthcare Centres have experienced significant upgrades compared to previous years.
“The level of development witnessed since the inception of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s administration is evident for everyone to see. Our healthcare facilities, schools, and public infrastructure have received renewed government attention,” he stated.
Despite acknowledging the government’s achievements, the Chairman appealed for increased project allocation to Rimin Gado, explaining that the Local Government lost its approved 5-kilometre road project because the route falls within the ongoing Federal Government’s Gwarzo-Dayi Road reconstruction project.
“Since our approved 5-kilometre road project has been overtaken by the Federal Government’s Gwarzo-Dayi Road project, we respectfully request that the Kano State Government relocates the project to another deserving road within our Local Government, just as has been done in some other Local Government Areas,” he appealed.
He further observed that although Rimin Gado is strategically located close to the Kano metropolitan area, it still requires additional developmental interventions to match its growing population and economic importance.
The Chairman outlined several priority road projects requiring government intervention, including construction of the Tamawa, Gadawa–Sakaratsa–Watari Bridge Road, construction of the Gulu–Gora–Madobi Road, and the construction of the Bangamawa–Dugurawa–Bagwai–Kwajale–Rimin Dako–Kiyawa–Bichi Road.
According to him, the proposed road networks would significantly improve rural connectivity, facilitate agricultural transportation, stimulate commerce, and enhance socio-economic development across the area.
Commissioner Assures Stakeholders of Government’s Commitment
Responding to the appeals, the Honourable Commissioner, Comrade Nura Ma’aji Sumaila, reaffirmed the Kano State Government’s commitment to equitable distribution of developmental projects across both urban and rural communities.
He clarified that project allocation under the administration of Governor Yusuf follows a fair and balanced development strategy designed to ensure that every part of the state benefits from government interventions.
The Commissioner assured the people of Rimin Gado that all requests presented during the monitoring exercise would be formally communicated to the Governor for careful and favourable consideration.
He noted that the proposed road projects, if approved and executed, would greatly improve transportation, reduce travel time, expand access to markets, and accelerate economic growth throughout the affected communities.
In his remarks, the District Head of Rimin Gado, Auwalu Mudi Yakasai (Dan Malikin Kano), expressed appreciation for the Commissioner’s visit and commended the State Government’s commitment to grassroots development.
He offered prayers for the continued success of Governor Yusuf’s administration and for sustained peace, unity, and progress across Kano State and the Kano Emirate.
The joint monitoring exercise once again demonstrated MPPPME’s unwavering commitment to ensuring transparency, accountability, value for public funds, and active stakeholder participation in the implementation of developmental projects across Kano State.
