Daushe Re-elected SCIAN Kano Chairman, Government Reaffirms Disability Commission Pledge

Abdulrahman Uba Daushe has been re-elected as Chairman of the Spinal Cord Injuries Association of Nigeria (SCIAN), Kano State Chapter, for a second term.

Daushe emerged unopposed during the association’s election and swearing-in ceremony held on Sunday, July 5, 2026, following the successful completion of all constitutional electoral processes.

The election, described as peaceful and transparent, was attended by the Kano State Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Hon. Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya; the Special Adviser to the Governor on the Kano State Independent Electoral Commission; members of SCIAN’s Board of Trustees; representatives of civil society organisations; the Chairman of the Joint National Association of Persons with Disabilities (JONAPWD); heads of disability clusters; members of the association; and other stakeholders.

Following the election, Barrister Magashi administered the oath of office to the newly elected executive committee, formally inaugurating them for a new tenure.

In his acceptance speech, Daushe thanked members for renewing their confidence in his leadership, pledging to strengthen advocacy for the welfare, inclusion, and rights of persons living with spinal cord injuries across Kano State.
He also called on members to remain united and support the new executive in delivering on its mandate.

Speaking at the event, Commissioner Waiya reiterated the Kano State Government’s commitment to establishing the State Disability Commission before the end of the current administration.

He also pledged government support for the development of an official SCIAN website to enhance the association’s visibility and improve its engagement with donor agencies and development partners.

A member of SCIAN’s Board of Trustees, Professor Isah, commended members for their peaceful conduct throughout the electoral process and reaffirmed the board’s commitment to supporting the association’s activities.

The newly elected executives include Abdulrahman Uba Daushe (Chairman), Shuaibu Halliru (Vice Chairman I), Hadiza Bayero (Vice Chairman II), Mustapha Wakili (Secretary General), Hauwa Abdullahi (Secretary General II), Abdullahi Modibbo (Treasurer), Halilu Dawakin Kudu (Financial Secretary), Nafiu Yunusa (Public Relations Officer), Maryam Mohammed (Women Coordinator), Rashida Umar (Assistant Women Coordinator).

Others are Abdullahi Maina (Auditor General), Jamila Jinjiri (Welfare Officer), Hauwa Darma (Social Welfare Officer), Abbas Adam Mohammed (Sports Director), Idris Garun Mallam (Chief Whip), Ibrahim (Organising Secretary), and Mujtaba Khalil (Projects/Social Media Officer).
